SSIO UK honours senior devotees for their unflinching service to the Sathya Sai Mission
The SSIO UK held a special event to honour senior devotees over 70 years old, for their unswerving devotion and dedication in serving Sathya Sai's mission in the UK.
Sathya Sai National Gratitude Day celebrated on 21st October 2017 in Hatfield, London (UK), is inspired by Sathya Sai Baba who had personally conducted this ancient tradition to felicitate senior devotees who had given their lives to His Work.
Around 350 people attended this emotional and highly charged occasion with the senior devotees given an opportunity to offer a lamp at Sathya Sai's
divine lotus feet, after which they were felicitated with a shawl and a Human Values medallion. Children from Sai Spiritual Education (SSE) also had the opportunity to show gratitude and respect to their parents to encourage family bonding and values. The event also marked the 77th year since Sathya Sai declared the purpose of His Advent and Divine Mission on October 20th, 1940.
Attendees also engaged with this year's 'Serve the Planet' initiative and were given the opportunity to provide their continued support to various charities that the organisation has worked with over the years, such as the RSPCA (Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals), Refuge UK, British Red Cross, Royal Mail and Food Bank (Hatfield), among others.
